Effortless everyday life in traditional Oulunkylä
Rental apartments a train journey away from the city center
Located on the east side of Keskuspuisto in North Helsinki, Oulunkylä is a beloved suburb formed by the areas of Maunula, Maunulanpuisto, Metsälä, Patola, Pirkkola, Veräjälaakso, and Veräjämäki. The growing district is constantly being developed with more housing and services – including new responsible SATOhomes.
Oulunkylä, known locally in Helsinki as Ogeli, has always had a strong identity, with its history stretching back centuries: the area has been settled for centuries. In the early 1900s, Oulunkylä, originally named Åggelby, was even an independent municipality. Residents of Oulunkylä often enjoy their community-like atmosphere so much that they do not desire to move elsewhere. And no wonder, as this charming and green district has all daily services nearby and public transportation efficiently connecting to many directions.
Local shopping centre and other services
There's no need to travel far from home for daily services, as everything necessary is often within walking distance in Oulunkylä. Next to the Oulunkylä train station, Ogeli shopping centre offers facilities where you can do your grocery shopping, visit the pharmacy, collect postal packages, or grab lunch. In addition to daily services, the shopping centre houses a few specialty stores, such as Lankamaailma yarn shop and Kierrätyskeskus thrift store. Nearby Ogeli, there is Oulunkylä library and a health centre, and daycares as well as schools.
Raide-Jokeri enhances the already excellent transport connections
Oulunkylä, located along the railway line, boasts unparalleled transport connections, allowing easy travel in many directions even without a car. The train reaches Helsinki's city centre in less than ten minutes, and the journey to Helsinki-Vantaa airport takes only twenty minutes. The approximately six-kilometre journey to the city centre is also smoothly accessible via the city's excellent bicycle paths.
The already excellent transport links were further improved with the initiation of passenger service on the rail line Raide-Jokeri passing through Oulunkylä, running from Itäkeskus in Helsinki to Keilaniemi in Espoo.
Diverse outdoor and sports opportunities
Ogeli is a true paradise for fitness enthusiasts, as the area boasts two popular sports parks. At Oulunkylä sports park, you can engage in a variety of ball sports, such as football, basketball, or ice hockey. In addition to the ice rink, a large artificial ice rink is maintained in the winter. The sports park also features an athletics field, a gym, and indoor sports facilities where guided exercise classes are held. If cross-country skiing or learning breaststroke is more your thing, head towards the popular Pirkkola sports park, which offers illuminated ski tracks and a swimming pool.
Outdoor enthusiasts will fall in love with the neighborhood's numerous green areas and parks, providing splendid settings for outdoor activities. Take a jog to admire the floral splendor and tranquil atmosphere of Oulunkylä allotment garden or take your furry friend to the verdant Taiteilijanpuisto dog park. In the summer, in addition to jogging paths, you can enjoy the outdoors at the beautiful Pikkukoski beach.

This cozy neighborhood restaurant has charmed the residents of Oulunkylä with its authentic Neapolitan pizza, and many travel from afar to indulge here. The place has become so popular over a few years that it's advisable to make a reservation in advance.
The café at Oulunkylä's Seurahuone also offers a bite to eat, but the charming wooden villa that houses the community center is also an excellent place for neighbors to meet and engage in various activities. Here you can enjoy live gigs, unleash your creativity in the art circle, or try out calming yoga.
