Old buildings pulled down to be replaced with new in Martinlaakso

SATO is upgrading its stock of rental homes by pulling down a 46-unit low-rise in the Martinlaakso district of Vantaa to make way for 110 new SATO RentHomes that will be completed on the site in 2017.

Maarit Tuomainen, Land Acquisition Manager from SATO:

”Infill building of this kind where the old is pulled down to make way for the new is a first for SATO. This exciting project has involved experts from a number of fields and we have also had a smooth working relationship with the City of Vantaa.

Antti Aarnio, Director from SATO:

”Besides allowing us to build more rental homes, pulling down the existing buildings also has advantages in terms of quality and energy efficiency. The functionality and floor plans of the new homes will be better in synch with current rental demand, and with its close proximity to the commuter train station, the location of the site could not be better.”

The building contract for the site has been awarded to Jatke Uusimaa Oy, who will also build roughly 60 owner-occupied homes on a lot partitioned from the site. On the same occasion SATO has acquired from Jatke a property of 133 rental homes, likewise located in Vantaa, that will be completed in 2018.
